Hi Lucas! Sorry, Mommy’s been extremely busy — a lot of kids have been enrolling lately, because it’s almost the start of winter holidays in Korea. I barely have time to be active in Smart Parenting and GirlTalk. But of course, your Mom is a certified multi-tasker, so she still tries to go through her favorite blogs while having her classes — very bad, no?
I’m supposed to write my bucket list for days now Baby, but I keep forgetting. Probably has something to do with pregnancy amnesia or something like that. Maybe Mommy will do that next week, cause next Saturday’s Christmas Eve, and I think that befits the occasion. For now though, Mommy got this year ender meme from a blog that I have recently discovered, Sandier Pastures.
I found her blog pretty interesting, as she’s also a mom blogger — but mostly she writes about her experiences about living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Her witty yet entertaining way of writing got me hooked last night — I think I backread entries until year 2008. I got distracted a lot during class — Mom kept mentioning sand and camels to her students! Eeeep!
Anyhoo, here’s the meme:
1.) What did you do in 2011 that you hadn’t done before?
~ Mommy got pregnant? Hahaha! I also officially resigned from a company for the first time — cause before, Mom usually makes it like a banana and split from her former companies.
2.) Did anyone close to you give birth?
~ A lot! Hahaha. Your Tita Miles gave birth last April, Tita Maseh gave birth last August and Tita Juvy gave birth last month.
3.) Did anyone close to you die?
~ No one — and hopefully no one does.
4.) Did you travel? Where did you go?
~ Hhhmmm.. define travel? Hahaha. Mom did go to Daddy’s province (officially our province too) twice this year — last January and June, during Dad’s 24th birthday. And yes Little One, you were conceived during that special day. LOOOOL. @_@
5.) Best thing you bought?
~ I don’t know Baby. Your baby things perhaps? Oh, and Mom’s Blackberry phone and Polaroid camera too. Gadgets are great investments —- remember that, son.
6.) Where did most of your money go?
~ When Mom wasn’t pregnant with you yet, most of my money went to family expenses, dates with Daddy, gadgets and food. But after I got pregnant, most of my money went to family expenses, dates with Daddy, gadgets, food, our vitamins and your things.
7.) What do you wish you had done more of?
~ I don’t know Baby — maybe I should have done more travelling? Oh I know, I should’ve saved more money! Hahaha!
8.) What do you wish you had done less of?
~ Less complaining and whining, perhaps? I don’t know Baby, I feel like everything I’ve done, right or wrong, lead us to you — so I don’t ever want to change anything — or lessen the degree of how I did things back then. Also, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28 (Nonna’s favorite Bible verse)
9.) What kept you sane?
~ Our Almighty Father. Seriously Son, we were totally caught unaware when we learned about your existence — happy of course — but totally caught unaware. If His grace and mercy weren’t present in our lives, I would be in a mental institution by now. He remained in control of everything, something that I’m really glad about, cause Daddy and I couldn’t do it by ourselves.
10.) What drove you mad?
~ Besides unexpected news (see answer above), hhhhmmmmm…. Nothing, I guess. Hehehe. Don’t worry Baby, you’re not to blame in all of this. It’s your Daddy and Mommy’s fault that they did not prepare for this soon enough. But you are such a blessing in our lives, so even if I had to go through intense mental gymnastics for weeks, I WOULDN’T CHANGE ANYTHING, cause if I did, we wouldn’t have you and your crazy karate chops at night.
11.) What made you celebrate?
~ Your existence, of course! After we got over the initial drama, Daddy and I were so excited, we couldn’t wait to tell it to the world! Of course, we had to keep our traps partially shut because some members of our families had to know first. Oh, and when you found out your gender? If you could only see our faces that time, especially Daddy’s. It was priceless.
12.) What made you sad?
~ I don’t think anything particular made me sad this year. I think Mommy only gets sad when someone gets really sick — like your Tito Yeye for instance, he’s currently confined right now because of Dengue Fever. Let’s pray for your uncle, okay Baby? Oh, your Tito Jun also had Dengue Fever this year, but he’s okay now.
13.) How was your birthday this year?
~ How was my birthday this year? All I can remember was, it was on a Sunday. Oh yeah, I got myself the Blackberry phone. I also got tons of birthday greetings on Facebook and I treated your Ninangs to Mang Inasal. Now I remember — I couldn’t eat very well, and I was wondering why, cause I usually have three or four refills of rice. That time, I only had one refill. Figures, I was already experiencing first trimester symptoms —- indigestion!
14.) What political issue stirred you the most this year?
~ Hahaha! I used to be affected when it comes to political issues, but now, I don’t care anymore! The whole Philippine political scene has turned into a telenovela circus — and Mommy’s not exactly the everyday-telenevola-follower.
15.) Were you in love in 2011?
~ Very much Baby. My heart bursts out with sooooo much love for your Daddy that we decided this kind of love isn’t enough for one person, so we had you. Hahaha! I know that sounds so cheesy and downright PDA-ish, but it’s completely true! Now as I end 2011, I’m in love with two men —- make that 1 man and 1 boy.
16.) What would you like to have in 2012 that you didn’t have this year?
~ You, of course. Hahaha! And the promised promotion, that can add financial security to our family. Daddy’s also on the verge of promotion — Daddy’s really good, he’s still considered a trainee but his work ethic and knowledge regarding his work is soooo good that bosses are thinking about giving him a higher ranking position. Mommy would like us to have a good house next year, and also to have all of our household stuff before the year ends.
17.) What date from 2011 will be etched in your memory and why?
~ July 18, 2011 –> the day I found out about my Little One.
~ November 5, 2011 –> the day we found out our Little One was a Little Boy.
18.) What song will remind you of 2011?
~ Oh this is a hard one Baby. I’ll think of this first, cause there are like, a ton of songs that will remind me of this year. If only Blackberry had a Most Played songlist like Nokia and Samsung.
19.) Compared to this time last year, are you happier?
20.) Biggest achievement this year?
~ I don’t think Mom has achieved a lot this year. I don’t know, maybe I’ll ask your Daddy about this.
21.) Biggest disappointment this year?
~ Hhmmmm… I’ll just keep that to myself. It’s still a disappointment this time of the year, but at least not as much of a disappointment as it was before.
22.) What is the one thing that would have made you more satisfied?
~ The fact that I should’ve bought your Nonna all the things that she wanted. But don’t worry Baby, Mommy’s still working on it.
23.) Best new person you met this year?
~ You mean besides my Lucas? Your Ninang Hershey and Ninang Lala.
24.) A valuable life lesson you learned this year?
~ Trust God and let Him direct your path. Things don’t always turn out as bad as you imagine them to be.
25.) How was your health in 2011?
~ Pretty good. I have been to the doctor more times than I have been for the past five years. Of course Mommy has to take good care of her health to make sure you’ll be healthy too.
26.) Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions and will you make more for next year?
~ Mommy doesn’t believe in NYR, cause I know I can’t keep them.
27.) What countries did you visit?
28.) What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2011?
~ More nerve, I guess? I think I played too safe this year — meaning, I wasn’t that assertive compared to the previous years.
29.) Did you suffer hardship in 2011?
~ I did, but it was quite tolerable — nothing of the wrist cutting and overdosing sort. Thank you Lord for getting me through!
30.) Whose behavior merited celebration?
~ Prolly your Dad. Your Daddy has changed soooo much for the better, you wouldn’t recognize him from his college DoTA days. Guess he made good on his promise that he’ll be a better person once things turned really serious.
31.) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
~ I’d like to keep this one to myself Baby. Will tell you maybe once you’re old enough to understand why.
32.) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
~ At the start of the year, Mommy and Daddy were pretty much excited planning for our wedding. Mommy was excited about the prospect of a new job, and Daddy was excited about the opening of the family business in Laguna. But as the year winds down, we’re both excited about getting married, having our own family and getting our own house.
33.) Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. > happier or sadder?
~ Happier, definitely.
ii. > thinner or fatter?
~ Fatter, of course. 120 lbs vs. 137 lbs. and counting???
iii. > richer or poorer?
~ Richer, because we have you. And…. yeah, richer cause… I am earning almost twice compared to last year.
34.) How did you spend the New Year’s?
~ Nothing spectacular, just the usual. We just visited relatives in Pasig, had dinner, and went home afterwards.
35.) How many one-night stands?
36.) What was your favorite TV program?
~ How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, Top Chef and its spin-offs, Cake Boss, Man Vs. Food, Junior Master Chef, Everday Exotic, My Greek Kitchen, Jamie Oliver shows, Nigella Lawson shows, Everyday Italian, Idol Sa Kusina…. the list goes on. And as you might have noticed Son, most of these shows are about cooking and food.
37.) Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
~ Hate is too strong a word. Maybe it’s because of hormones and all, but there are some persons that Mommy wants to avoid because they get on her nerves.
38.) What was the best book you read?
~ Unfortunately, Mommy didn’t have much time to read a lot this year. Mommy only re-read her favorite books. But don’t worry, next year, we’ll read a lot of books.
39.) What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
~ I discovered that I was such a huge Roxette fan! Hahaha!
40.) What did you want and get?
~ I wanted my gadgets, and I did get most of them. I wanted to eat, and I did get to eat at food markets.
41.) What did you want and not get?
~ The supposed promotion from the other company and my dream laptop
42.) What was your favorite film that you watched this year?
~ Definitely Zombadings: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington. I have a “mababaw” sense of humor.
43.) What one experience do you never want to repeat from this year?
~ Ummm… I definitely don’t want to experience indigestion and a whole lot of vomiting next year. Meaning —- paging Daddy —- I don’t want to be pregnant right away next year!!!!! Hahaha, don’t get wrong Baby, having you is such a joy, but the symptoms are not soooo pleasant sometimes.
44.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
~ Very boho, but also quite clean and a little office-y at the same time.
45.) Which celebrity / public figure did you fancy the most?
~ Aishwarya Rai.
46.) Who did you miss?
~ I miss our relatives in the States and Canada.
47.) Quote that sums up your year
~ Oh, this one’s hard… I’ll get back to this one later.
48.) Was 2011 a good year for you?
~ Yes, a pretty good year Baby —- career-wise, lovelife-wise and family life-wise.
49.) What was your favorite moment of the year?
~ A lot actually, I can’t even pinpoint a single one.
50.) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
~ Nothing particular comes into mind.
51.) Where were you when 2011 began?
~ Maybe in Pasig? I’m not exactly sure Baby.
52.) Who were you with?
~ With Nonna, Ninang Mimi and your Great Grand Lolo. Daddy was in the province that time, busy with his godchildren.
53.) Do you have a New Year’s Resolution for 2012?
~ Nope, cause Mommy doesn’t believe in NYR.
54.) What was your favorite month of 2011?
~ June –> Mommy and Daddy’s birth month. December –> Christmas
55.) What was your favorite song of 2011?
~ Hhmmmm… I haven’t really thought about it.
56.) What was your favorite record from 2011?
~ I didn’t really buy any record this year, cause I download from the internet for free.
57.) How many concerts did you see in 2011?
~ Sadly none.
58.) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2011?
~ I think I only drank once this year Baby, I promise. Like two – three glasses of Pale Pilsen last January 2011 — urgh, I know.
59.) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2011?
~ The only drugs Mommy did this year were Amoxicillin 500 mg and Kremil-S.
60.) How many people did you sleep with in 2011?
~ Just your Daddy.
61.) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
~ A lot actually, but Mommy’s not going to tell you that.
62.) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2011?
~ I don’t exactly remember… Oh noooo.. Mommy’s pregnancy amnesia’s getting worse!!!
63.) Did you treat somebody badly in 2011?
~ Hahaha. I have been treating this person badly for half a decade now. I don’t know Baby, I try my very best to start, but I just can’t — but I know God is stronger than my emotions, so He will conquer my heart and my mind, and I know He will change the way I feel about this person.
64.) Did somebody treat you badly in 2011?
~ Nobody did… to which I’m thankful for, Little One. If someone did, I probably didn’t notice it.
65.) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2012?
~ Secreeeeettt! Hahaha!

67.) What are you most looking forward to in 2012?
~ Tax refund, Mommy and Daddy’s wedding, your birth day, the day when we move to our new house… a lot of things Baby. I don’t want to expect anything except to be surprised. Hahaha!
To our other readers, please feel free to copy the questions, and let Grace of Sandier Pastures know how you answered them. No, I’m not paid to promote her or her blog, I just really really like her.
And for the record, I have answered all these questions while handling five classes. Hehehe! Now that’s multi-tasking!
P.S. Little Boy, your Great Grandpa came home from Coron, Palawan last Sunday afternoon, and we did not hear any fireworks from him — yet. I don’t know, cause he and Daddy did not have the sit-down talk yet, maybe next Sunday though. But I think he’s okay with it now. He’s actually concerned about us. So Yaaaaaaay! for legality. Hahaha.
P. P. S. Mommy and Daddy went to City Hall earlier this week, and looks like our wedding will be on the third week of January. I know Baby, barely a month ’til you arrive. Hahaha.
We love you Lucas Ram! Keep those kicks coming!
Mommy (Daddy sends his love from the office!)
